IDDA (Intelligent Distributed System for Power Distribution Automation) is a project supported by FCT that started in September/2000 with the duration of 3 years. In this project we claim that the software interaction through agent-based software engineering is suitable for the next generation of Distribution Automation systems, leading to a philosophy of building systems of smaller manageable components that can interact, communicate and cooperate. In such Multi-Agent Systems knowledge, resources, control and authority are distributed amongst community members working together, in a co-ordinated and coherent manner, in order to solve problems. The Portuguese Distribution Company EN/EDP
Zita Vale is the project leader and the total budget is € 41000.
